Hans
Knauss is happy
Im happy with my 3rd
place especially because, for those
who knows me, Im never there
at the beginning of the season. But
a winter like this without big medal
events you have to be ready right
at the beginning. Im trying
to do my best, but its true
that I was having good feelings as
last March when I won in Hafjfell.
I felt I was really strong even if
my training times where not convincing.
To tell you the truth, I wasnt
relaxed at Soelden. It explained why
I was not able to explode there.
I really liked to race today,
the snow was perfect, it was a good
course, a great slope, and it was
sunny in the first run, which is really
a key thing for me . It was really
hard to beat Bode today, hes
100 % self confident. You need to
feel really comfortable on those bumps,
especially when you dont see
anything as in the second run. Hes
more relaxed, he doesnt care
what is going around him. The feeling
is as important as the power in this
kind of race. The conditions were
the same for everybody, flat light,
lot of bumps, so you had to take a
lot of risks. You never know where
you are. I didnt know who was
leading, when I started my second
leg, but I knew that Schiffi
had made a great run. So I thought,
hes my good friend, so I can
do as good as him!
At least, Im having a
lot of fun this year, because I have
no injuries, and Im feeling
really strong. Im 32, and Im
around for a long time now on the
World Cup tour. I can do what I want
, and thats he result that Im
a good skier. My next goal is Lake
Louise, I know that I can win there.
But the problem is that in Austria,
we dont have enough space in
the team so its always a big
fight. Ill have to qualify My
highlight this year will be Kitzbühel,
Adelboden, and Alta Badia, the great
Classics. For me its like winning
a World Championship, its a
special feeling.
We are a strong team and somehow,
it can be interesting, that we didnt
win the first races. It motivates
us. Last week we were training , and
I was always behind. And Im
at the top today, so you can see!
The young guys are really fast back
there, but its difficult to
express your potential in the World
Cup races. Otherwise, there would
be for sure Austrian everywhere on
the podium!
Maier for example, he s incredible.
With all the results that he had done
he could have said goodbye after his
accident, but no way, hes back
and he works so hard.
