Men's Downhill - Race report
Report I Race results I SWC DH I Overall
Daron Rahlves interview

“January has always been a very good time for me. I get more excited for the big races. The things are going pretty well for me as we can see for the moment. Twice 3rd in Beaver Creek and Bormio, a victory n Bormio, and 2nd here....In the downhill rankings, I’m second behind Stephan in the World Cup standings. This is excellent!”
“I really skied well in today’s race and I wanted it badly. With the confidence I got in Colorado, I was building my form every day. There are still a couple of great moment to come, like Kitzbühel next weekend and the World Championships the first days of February: I’m so excited to defend my tittle there. It will be exciting!”
“Everybody always thought that I would never ski well on that slope, because it’s not supposed to be my type of terrain! It’s a glider run and I’m not such a good glider. But the first time I came here, I loved it immediately!”
“There is much more on this course to discover. In reality it’s quite technical and tough. You have to be a real athlete to score a good result here. Wengen has the ideal downhill, and my biggest dream is to win once here. Maybe tomorrow, it will depend on the course conditions and my start- number”.
“Yesterday, I was so nervous because I didn’t know how the conditions would be for me over an hour after the beginning of the competition I was still wondering whether the snow wouldn’t be too warm. Normally the back people don’t get a chance.
“I’m skiing much better then in 2001, it’s my best time ever! I’m more consistent than before. It’s working great for me this season: I’m changing, I’m trying to ski smarter and cleaner”.
“With Bode’s success, I definitely have to work harder, and give some extra pushes. I’m the type of skier who can beat him in downhill. It’s not the same in the other disciplines. It’s a good combination, and of course it’s great to have such a guy to share success with”.
“It’s not the same with the Austrian, because they have been always a strong team. Bode is a great athlete, and he’s skiing great in four events. But still I want to be the fastest in the team!”
“What made a difference today is also my serviceman, I’m having such a great equipment. I’m really looking forward to race tomorrow. Today’s result gives me confidence, and I know which are the important details that I have to improve for the next races...maybe there is a chance that I beat Stephan tomorrow!”
